Partner Assistant
Chat with your Microsoft Partner Center data about customers, subscriptions, licences, invoices and more.
The Partner Assistant answers questions about your own Microsoft Partner Center data: your customers, their subscriptions and licences, renewals, invoices, costs and more. It can answer with tables, charts and customer cards.
Open it with Partner Assistant in the sidebar. It's on its own page, so you can keep a conversation going while you work.

It needs Partner Center
The assistant works from your organisation's Microsoft Partner Center connection. If it isn't connected yet, the page says so: an organisation admin sees Connect Partner Center, and everyone else is asked to contact an admin. Set it up in Integrations.
Asking a question
Type your question and press Enter, or select send. Shift + Enter starts a new line. While the assistant is answering, send turns into stop.
To speak instead, select the microphone, talk, then select ✓ to use the recording or ✕ to discard it. A recording can be up to a minute. Your words appear in the box for you to check and send; nothing is sent until you choose to.
Be specific about customers
Name a customer by company name, domain or tenant ID. If a name matches more than one customer (for example Contoso), the assistant shows the matches and asks which one you mean.
Where the answers come from
| Source | What it covers | How fresh |
|---|---|---|
| Your latest sync | Customers, their subscriptions, licences by status and product, commitments ending soon | As of the last sync. The assistant tells you the date when it's more than a day old. Run Sync Now in Integrations for fresher data |
| Partner Center, live | Invoices, costs, licence assignments and usage, Azure usage, budgets, audit records, offers, trials, resellers | Read from Microsoft as you ask |
Quantities are licences, not people: some products, such as Office 365 Extra File Storage, are sold per GB. Only active and suspended subscriptions count as current; disabled and deleted ones are history.
What you can ask
| Area | Example |
|---|---|
| Connection and sync | When was our Partner Center data last synced? · Sync Partner Center data now |
| Customers | How many customers do we have? · Which customers have suspended subscriptions? |
| Subscriptions and licences | Show subscriptions and licences for Fabrikam Aerospace |
| Totals | What are our top products by active licences? |
| Renewals | Which commitments end in the next 30 days? |
| Licence usage | Which licences does Contoso have, and how many are unassigned? |
| Azure | Show Azure usage for Contoso's Azure subscription last month |
| Growth | Give me a growth snapshot for Fabrikam |
| Trials | Does Contoso have any trials, and what can they convert to? |
| Catalog | Find Microsoft 365 Business Premium offers |
| Resellers | Show our indirect resellers |
For organisation admins
These answers include money, people or audit data, so only organisation admins can see them. If anyone else asks, the assistant explains that an admin is needed.
| Area | Example |
|---|---|
| Invoices | Show our latest invoices · Show the line items of the newest invoice |
| Costs | What are Contoso's service costs this period? |
| Azure budget | Is Contoso within its Azure spending budget? |
| Licence holders | Which Fabrikam users have Microsoft 365 E5? |
| Audit | Show Partner Center audit activity for the last 7 days |
| Co-sell | Are any co-sell referrals expiring soon? |
| Incentives | What incentive earnings did we receive in the last 90 days? |
Co-sell and incentives need one more permission
Co-sell referrals and incentive earnings use a separate Microsoft API. Until an organisation admin grants it by reconnecting Partner Center, the assistant answers that the extra permission is needed. See Co-sell referrals and incentive earnings.
The full list of what it can do is under Settings › Integrations › Partner Assistant Tools.
When something needs attention
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Connect Partner Center | Partner Center isn't connected yet. An organisation admin connects it in Integrations |
| Reconnect Partner Center | Microsoft no longer accepts the stored sign-in. An organisation admin reconnects it |
| Finish connecting Partner Center | The connection was started but not finished. An organisation admin completes it |
| Couldn't check Partner Center | Onyx couldn't reach Partner Center just now. Select Try again |
| Couldn't start the assistant | Select Try again, or reload the page |
| The assistant stopped working | Select Start again for a new conversation |
| The account that connected Partner Center does not have permission for this | The Microsoft account used to connect lacks the Partner Center role for that data (for example billing data needs a billing admin role). Ask your Partner Center admin |
| Too many questions in a short time | Wait a few minutes, then ask again |
Licensing rules vs your data
For questions about Microsoft licensing rules (what a plan includes, CAL requirements, agreement options), ask Maya in SupportHub. The Partner Assistant is for questions about your own customers and subscriptions.
